Do I have to get a wedding band that matches my engagement ring?

Your wedding band is not only a symbol of your marriage, but also your style! There is no rule that you have to get the true matching band made for your engagement ring. Feel free to explore other designs and mix and match styles, because chances are there will be plenty of options that still complement your engagement ring.

Does customizing a wedding band cost more?

There is no extra fee for ordering a custom wedding band. Whether your request is a simple modification or a completely new design from scratch, Icing On The Ring can create it! For designs from scratch, one of our designers will gladly provide a price quote, based on the amount of metal, labor, and diamonds it takes to create your ring.

Should I fuse my wedding band and engagement ring together?

If you would like the option of wearing your engagement ring and wedding band together and separate, we advise against fusing them.

Should my wedding band be the same metal as my engagement ring?

It is always best for your wedding band to be the same metal as your engagement ring, so they age at the same pace. (E.g. If white gold is worn next to platinum, the white gold ring will wear down prematurely due to the added density of platinum.)

Why is it better to get an eternity diamond band?

Unlike an engagement ring, wedding bands don’t have a dedicated top or bottom. When a band spins on your finger you might not see the same design from the top. If you have a diamond eternity band (diamonds spanning all the way around), you will always see the same design & diamonds regardless of how it turns.

Do you need to refer to my engagement ring to produce the matching band?

Yes please! Your engagement ring is required during production, in order to ensure that the setting work, width, thickness, and size of diamonds match.

Which precious metal should I choose for a men’s wedding band?

The most popular choices are white gold and platinum, with some men opting for yellow gold or rose gold for a more nostalgic look. Keep in mind that white gold will turn into a faint yellow color after a few years of use. Platinum, however, is hypoallergenic, naturally white and won’t tarnish.

What are the Pros and Cons for a men’s tungsten carbide wedding band?

Pros: Our tungsten carbide wedding bands are formulated to not scratch, dent or tarnish. We also have variations coated in black or white (though the coatings are subject to scuff and wear throughout time). Bands made of this durable alternative metal will maintain a nearly new appearance for many years.

Cons: Because tungsten carbide bands are not malleable, they CAN crack if subjected to excessive pressure. They are also not sizable. If your finger size changes, your original wedding band will need to be exchanged for a replacement for a nominal fee.
